Eddie and I were friends from early years since our families were St. Andrews members (9th & Gordon).  We went to Central together, sang in the chorus with Mae Ruhe the director.  He also played with the band and Henry Soltys the conductor. We always teased him about the big bassoon he played and why it wasn't included in Albertus Meyer's marching band.  It didn't stop Eddie.  He played the cymbals instead.  We went to Kutztown together from whence Eddie moved into the more sacred realm while I stayed in the secular circles. We didn't see much of each other until later in life when we both attended AHS reunions and renewed our friendship.  We had a lot of fun reminiscing, drinking beer, and telling lies (yes, even a religious guy like Eddie).
